Azerbaijani gas can save the EU through the "Southern Gas Corridor"

Pumping additional amounts of gas through the Southern Gas Corridor could make a significant contribution to Europe's efforts to diversify its sources, Nikos Tsafos, an analyst with the U.S. Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), told Trend.az (https://telp.cc/KBc). However, it is unclear how much additional gas can be provided and within what timeframe, Tsafos said. "Perhaps there will be some measures to reduce imports from Russia, rather than stopping it completely. The loss of Russian gas would have huge consequences for Europe. In the short term, liquefied natural gas (LNG) can only make up for some of the lost volumes. Europe will have to engage in rationing to cope with a complete cessation of Russian gas supplies," the analyst added.
