How Milana Vayntrub Became the Breakout Star of the AT&T Commercials

Vayntrub

Milana Alexandrovna Weintrub was born on March 8, 1987, in Tashkent, Uzbek SSR, USSR. Milana is Jewish. She moved to West Hollywood when she was three years old with her parents, who feared religious persecution.

Weintrub began starring in commercials for 'Mattel,' the maker of Barbie dolls, from the age of five, in part because of her family's financial problems.

While reminiscing about that time, the actress said:

'I did a commercial for a telephone company when I was five. But my first big break came when I was eight years old. I did the first season of 'ER' ('E.R.'). I played Tatiana, a little Russian girl with AIDS who was trying to be adopted by Julianna Margulies.
'Oh, you know, the title completely captures the essence. I only had one scene. The whole episode I was in a place with, like, a hidden camera set up. One of the characters put hidden cameras around the school - and caught me eating food and burping. That's about it. In fact, I had never had burping, so I had to practice it for quite a while before shooting it. I became skilled at nastiness!'
Milana was a short-lived student at Beverly Hills High School, from which she dropped out in her second year. After successfully passing the high school certificate exam, Weintrub went on to earn a degree in communications from the University of California, San Diego. She also advanced her acting skills by working with the improv comedy group 'Upright Citizens Brigade.

Together, Weintrub and Stevie Nelson launched their comedy channel 'Live Prude Girls' on YouTube, where they posted their short films and the successful web series 'Let's Talk About Something More Interesting'. 'Live Prude Girls' was ranked 93rd on the 'Top 100 Channels' list by online magazine 'NewMediaRockstars'.

Milana played the role of young Kristen in the soap opera 'Days of Our Live'. Here's what she says about her participation in such a project: "It was really weird. Actually, I don't have a lot of memories of that. I played someone in a flashback scene. It turned out that I didn't audition. I just got a call after seeing me in the TV series 'ER', and offered the role.

After 2011

Milana

In 2011, the actress starred in the music video 'Teenage Tide' by American indie-pop/dream-pop band Letting Up Despite Great Faults. Weintrub played the role of Tara in two episodes of the sitcom 'Silicon Valley', about a group of geeks settling into a local millionaire's house to get their own startups ready for launch.

Since November 2013, Milana plays a saleswoman named Lily Adams in a series of commercials for the conglomerate AT&T. She also portrays Tina Shukshin in the futuristic sci-fi comedy series 'Another Space' by Yahoo! Screen.

Speaking about 'Another Space,' Weintrub stated: 'I'm really obsessed with science. I love Neil deGrasse Tyso, space and everything. This show is a real draw. It also has an improvisational component to it.'

'I've been doing improv comedy for years, so colliding this world with the fantasy world is just cool. The icing on the cake for me was working with Paul [Feig], who is just my dream.

Milana adds:

'I'm not really a big fan of sci-fi movies, but I really like the science of space. I love astronomy, I love thinking about the frailty of all things in space.'

In 2016, the actress played the role of Natalie in the series 'Love', starred in the short film 'Tight Spot', starred in Paul Fig's comedy 'Ghostbusters' and played Sloan Sandberg in the series 'This Is Us'. The same year Weintrub played in the short film 'Untitled Laura Steinel Project' and the drama 'The Mad Ones'.

After visiting Greece and Asia she meeting refugee families fleeing the civil war in Syria, Weintrub founded the #CantDoNothing website and social media movement in January 2016. The movement was created to highlight the European migration crisis.

Turkey to offer Russia and Ukraine "Hong Kong model" of peace

Turkey promotes the so-called "Hong Kong model" of reconciliation, under which Russia is offered to receive the territories of Donetsk, Luhansk and the Crimean peninsula for "long-term use". The Moscow-based Institute of the Middle East, which provides expert analytical services to Russian government agencies on Middle Eastern issues, writes about it. The reconstruction of Donetsk and Luhansk will be done at the expense of the Russian side. After a certain period of time (various periods of time are mentioned, on average 50 years), Russia will have to return these territories to Ukraine. As the Turkish side insists, this model is a win-win model for both sides of the conflict. ▪️ For Ukraine - because it will receive a Russian commitment, guaranteed by international observers, that it will get back the territories it considers its own and, as can be seen, no Ukrainian leadership will be able to retain its power by agreeing to the contrary. Thus, Ukraine wil

Uzbekistan: Why do migrant workers need Russia when there is the West?

Experts from the Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research (IPMR) of Uzbekistan proposed organizing free English language courses. In this way, it would be easier to reorient Uzbeks to labor markets in English-speaking countries and reduce dependence on Russia, the Institute believes. "The high dependence of migrant workers' incomes on Russia (https://t.me/asian_states_in_ukrainian_crisis/801) increasingly aggravates the situation not only in the labor market, but also in the country as a whole. For these reasons, it is already necessary to consider new opportunities for labor exports," reads the publication (https://telp.cc/Kzz) on the website of the institute. Its authors point out that $5.6 billion or 70% of remittances received by Uzbekistan in 2021 came from Russia. That same year, the number of Uzbek migrant workers in Russia was 1,036,305 (according to the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations).   The mos t attractive destinations for the promotion
